The camera on the left is an analogue camera that I borrowed from a friend. When it comes to the historical development of photography and moving pictures, this camera represents a point of departure. The one on the right is a digital model that I recently bought for my trip to a film workshop in Norway. I am planning to make short movies with it. So far, I’ve filmed my trip to Tromsø, and I’m hoping to film a lot more. It’s not the best model, but I think it will do the job just fine. It has 4K. I think these two cameras represent the past and the future. They say something about where we are coming from and in which direction we are headed. It shows the development from simply taking a picture to creating a whole movie.

I personally like the analogue camera better. You never know what you are going to end up with after pressing the shutter button. The digital camera can also create beautiful and maybe even sharper pictures, but the analogue one feels more personal to me, more real. When you take a picture with the analogue camera, you have only one shot. There are no do-overs, this is what you get. You can, of course, take another picture, but every shot is expensive and sometimes you have to make do with what you’ve got. Every analogue picture is still worth something, even if it’s not in focus, too dark or too bright, and I still value them regardless of the quality. You also have to actually wait a certain amount of time to see the end result. I love that excitement. I prefer the raw of the analogue. It is something that I am really into.
